I found a restaurant review site with a recent review of the Fish and Anchor (dated 18 Dec 2008; it doesnt' say when the visit was made, though).  They may still in business.

Restaurant which appeared on Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares closes

10:50pm Wednesday 31st December 2008

A seafood restaurant which was featured on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares show has closed because of the credit crunch.

Love’s fish and seafood restaurant in St James’s Street, Kemp Town, Brighton, was transformed after the fiery chef made owner Allan Love realise he was selling badly cooked meals at high prices.

Mr Love had also never tasted a dish in his own restaurant because he hated fish.

The show transformed the business, and Mr Love spoke about how busy it was after he appeared on the programme.

But a notice on the door of the restaurant now says it has now closed because of the difficult economic climate and a lack of bookings.

The note reads: “Dear all. Unfortunately because of the credit crunch and lack of bookings, Loves restaurant has had to close for business.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last two years and apologise to anyone that has booked tables for the future.

I sincerely hope that everyone has a prosperous New Year and once again thank you for your past support. Yours, Allan Love.”

A similar note is posted online at www.lovesrestaurant.co.uk.

It adds: “PS. Also! Thank you Gordon Ramsay for all your efforts, at least we tried eh? Love you!!”

There was no answer at the restaurant when The Argus called today.

I used to love Love's, even when it was Ruby Tate's pre-Gordon but I stopped going when Allan became too 'mejia' and forgot why people enjoyed going there. My favourite waiter left and, when I said that it was sad, he said that they come and go and didn't care at all. That, combined with food poisoning from poorly prepared oysters, meant I couldn't be bothered to return. The poster of Gordon in the window was up far longer than it should have been so reminded would-be diners that it had been a failure.

But I am sad that it's gone as the staff were wonderful and did care about what they were doing. Hope to see them elsewhere soon.

A pub made famous by Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares TV programme has been snapped up by a multiple operator.

Bowland Village Inns (BVI), run by Steven Greenhalf and Michael Weston-Cole, has agreed to take on the Punch Taverns lease at the Fenwick Arms in Claughton, Lancashire.

It is BVI's third pub — it also run the Plough at Galgate and the Punchbowl at Garstang. A fourth venue, the Talbot at Chipping, is also close to completion.

The pub has been closed since June when Brian and Elaine Rey left the pub to take up a Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises five-year tenancy at the Ship in Aldborough, North Yorkshire.

Rey set up a Campaign for Real Gravy with Ramsay to try and get Britons to ditch gravy granules.

BVI has started work on a £300,000 refurbishment. "The development has created a lot of interest," said Weston-Cole.

The outlet will, however, face stiff competition from Nigel Haworth's Highwayman pub nearby

Campaign for Real Gravy Moves to Yorkshire!
The Fenwick Arms at Claughton, Lancs, the scene of one of Gordon Ramsay's most memorable TV Kitchen Nightmares, has closed.

Brian and Elaine Rey have moved - along with the Campaign for Real Gravy, invented by Ramsay to help save the ailing and pretentious pub restaurant - to The Ship Inn at Aldborough, near Boroughbridge in Yorkshire.

The so-called Campaign, of course, is merely a crass marketing gimmick aimed at bringing in coachloads of punters who care more about a close flirtation with TV notoriety than they do about good food well made with fresh local ingredients. The Reys showed little sign in the two TV shows and on my own visit of caring about the latter, and oblivious to their own shortcomings, reportedly blame the TV show for a subsequent downturn in visitors! Whether or not their campaign has any impact in its new location remains to be seen, but I shall be paying a critical visit very shortly, so watch this space!
