Indian show disaster as he serves up ANT chutney
TV CHEF Gordon Ramsay has been judged a vinda-loser after serving up curries in India.
One Indian cuisine expert tasted foul-mouth Ramsay's efforts and spat: "It's bloody c***."
Local foodie Satish Jacob raged: "It's got too much cardamom, it's a muddy colour and the flavour is awful. Spices have to be used subtly. I'm very disappointed."
Ramsay, 42, recently exposed by the News of the World as a love cheat, is filming Gordon's Great Escape for Channel 4, but the verdict so far is naan too good.
He dished up a red ant chutney for the tribal people of Bastar in Chhatisgarh, but even he thought that was hard to swallow.
Ramsay had to first catch the ants and then cook them into a paste with garlic, red chillies, tomatoes and ant eggs.
Although he was less than ecstatic, the locals humoured him and gave the paté-style dish the thumbs- up. Ramsay then hit a setback when his plans to cook khud khargosh - rabbit cooked in a sandpit - became toast after discovering the animal is a protected species in Rajasthan.
Channel 4 hope this new show will relaunch Ramsay's flagging career, which has nosedived since we revealed he cheated on wife Tana with writer Sara Symonds.
Since his rating peak in 2004 when a massive 8.1million people tuned in to watch him host Hell's Kitchen on ITV, his viewing figures have been on a slippery slope.
In 2006 The F Word was pulling in around 4 million. But since then figures have been sliding and at one point last May a mere 1.1 million viewers tuned in to the show.
A Channel 4 insider said of the current Indian series: "This is our way of saving Gordon. He is doing something much earthier and more inclusive."
Others close to the show say he's cut back on swearing.
But he is still laying on the charm.
One woman he served in Delhi, called him "absolutely wonderful".
