Australian media reports that Gordon "Hell's Kitchen" Ramsay took his shock shtick way too far over the weekend at a food and wine show in Melbourne.

Ramsay vilified one of the country's high-profile journalists, Tracy Grimshaw, in an obscene, sexist rant, during which he claimed Grimshaw is a lesbian.

When the crowd of several thousand people reacted with gasps, Ramsay said, "What? I'm not saying she's a d—," the Sunday Herald Sun reported.

Ramsay also showed a picture of an apparently naked woman on her hands and knees with pig features and said "that's Tracy Grimshaw ... holy crap. She needs to see Simon Cowell's Botox doctor."

A spokeswoman for Ramsay said the chef was just joking and that he and Grimshaw have a great relationship.

Too bad audience members weren't in on the joke. They told the Herald Sun that they found Ramsay's performance "disgusting" and "totally sexist." A women's group blasted his actions as demeaning to all Australian women and said he should leave the country.

Grimshaw challenged Ramsay to face her on Monday's edition of "A Current Affair." No word on whether he accepted the challenge.
