As part of Gordon Ramsay's new deal with FOX, which includes an agreement to produce two more installments of Hell's Kitchen, another season of Kitchen Nightmares and a yet-to-be determined series, the network is planning a live special starring the renowned chef.  The said program hopes to urge viewer to make a three-course homemade meal as Ramsay demonstrates how to make dinner.

"It has been picked up, and I can't wait for it to go live," Ramsay said.  "My frustration is that most cooking shows don't really cook ... their ingredients are prepped earlier, that's not cooking ... it's nice to show the journey from live ingredient to [finished meal].

Watching Gordon Ramsey on Hell's Kitchen is quite entertaining but seeing him without the constant swearing is something rare and interesting.  As of this moment, no air date has been set for Ramsay's live special though FOX is eyeing spring or fall.  If the live special proves to be successful, the network is likely to do more specials but not necessarily employing the format of a weekly series.

Ramsay's special is based on the chef's U.K. version of the project called Cook Along, which encouraged thousands of viewers to hold cooking parties along with the show. With this format, viewers are told which ingredients they'll need ahead of time and then they are led through the cooking process.  Just like the original version, FOX intends to incorporate shots of a few families cooking as well.

"Gordon has done an amazing job of creating exciting franchises for FOX," network exec Mike Darnell said in a statement. "From the first time I met him, it was clear that he would be a big star in America.  He has become one of the faces of FOX,' and we're thrilled that he will be on our network for years to come."

Meanwhile, fans can catch Gordon Ramsey on the fifth season of Hell's Kitchen every Thursday at 9pm on FOX.  To find out what Ramsey has to say about this season's contestants, check out BuddyTV's Conference Call with Gordon Ramsay!
