Splashdown: Gordon Ramsay can't get up on his board while surfing off the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1192755/Disgraced-Gordon-Ramsay-humiliated-tries-win-Aussies-surfing.htmlHis attempts at trying to win over the Australian public have failed miserably so far.
So it was a little bit understandable that Gordon Ramsay might want to try and salvage some respect.
But on this evidence, it's going to take a little while longer yet.
The 42-year-old chef's effort to prove his prowess on a surfboard ended in humiliation after a particularly ungraceful display.
Ramsay was joined by a friend on Thursday as the pair spent the afternoon having surfing lessons with the 1st Wave Surf School.
However, his hapless attempts will have attracted little sympathy after causing a storm down under last week when he insulted popular presenter Tracy Grimshaw - dubbed Australia's Fern Britton.
His angered members of the public during a live cooking demonstration at the Good Food and Wine show in Melbourne.
During the show, Ramsay likened her to pig and joked: 'I had an interview with her yesterday. Holy crap, she needs to see Simon Cowell's Botox doctor.'
He was even rebuked by the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, who claimed it was 'a sexist rant' and branded him 'a new form of low-life'.
Footage was also released of the moments before Ramsay's interview with Grimshaw, which shows the chef abusing staff at the Channel Nine TV studio.
He is seen swearing at a make-up artist and insulting a weather presenter.
Ramsay's surf instructor Brad Conroy said he had been surprised how polite he was when he met him.
'They were really relaxed and easy-going,' he said. 'This was the first time he had surfed in Australia. He had a ball but was surprised by how strong the waves could get.'
However, one onlooker was not quite so impressed. They said: 'It was hilarious. He was practising on the beach first and kept saying the waves looked small. But when he got out there he was all over the place.
'He tried to get up on his board but just ended up completely wiping out. He should stay in the kitchen. If he wants to impress Aussie's he going to have to try a lot harder after what he did.'
