Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has said Glasgow has the right ingredients for Commonwealth Games success.
The fiery chef is urging Scots to tune in their televisions and radios or go online on Friday to discover if the city's bid has been successful.

Glasgow is competing against Abuja in Nigeria to host the event.

And the final decision will be broadcast live at approximately 12.30pm on Friday, when members of the Commonwealth Games Federation vote to decide where the sporting event will be held.

As well as being live on television, radio and the internet, the result will also be shown on a big screen in Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket.

Ramsay said: "Glasgow has all the right ingredients to host the Commonwealth Games - great venues and most importantly a real love of sport.

"I think if we get the Games the athletes would have a brilliant time coming here to compete. As a city Glasgow is full of life, excitement and fun, and of course, the thing Scots are most famous for, having the friendliest people in the world. Make sure you are watching on the 9th for the result."

Derek Casey, Glasgow 2014 bid director, said: "I think it's great the people of Glasgow and Scotland will have the chance to watch the decision on Friday live on television or the internet, or to hear it on the radio.

"I certainly hope everyone will be watching what could be history in the making."

He added: "The finishing line is now in sight, but we are not complacent. In Sri Lanka we will continue to work as hard as we can right up to the last minute to prove to delegates beyond any doubt that Glasgow is the perfect venue for the Games in 2014."
