A BURNHAM woman will be taking to the skies and jumping into the abyss from 15,000ft to raise money for charity - all because of a celebrity chef.

Stoddens Road resident Anna Driver has jumped at the chance of taking part in a sponsored skydive in aid of Bristol-based domestic violence support federation, Women's Aid.

Anna will be donning the helmet and goggles and heading to South Cerney in Gloucestershire for the stunt on Saturday, January 26 after she was inspired by hot headed TV chef Gordon Ramsay.

She says working at the organisation's national office and witnessing first hand the help and support given to victims of domestic abuse added to the desire.

She said: "The work and support volunteers at Women's Aid provide is amazing and I decided that I really wanted to raise not only money but awareness for this fantastic organisation.

"When I started work for the organisation, Gordon and Tana Ramsay had just hosted a fundraising dinner in September and it inspired me to do a skydive instead of a dinner - mainly because my cooking is awful.

Despite never doing anything as extreme as a skydive before, Anna says she cant wait to get up in the plane and prepare for the thrilling jump.

She said: "I have never skydived before and this will be an amazing chance to raise money and do something I always wanted to but had never worked up the nerve to do before."

Anna has raised over £200 so far thanks to sponsorship from Burnham residents and the town's slimming club, but is appealing for extra funding.

She added: "It would be amazing to make this Christmas and New Year a great fresh start for so many who are suffering from domestic violence."
