Whilst the atmosphere eccentric, the menu indescribably diverse and the rations delectable, portion size has yet to be mastered “per course” at Maze. As suggested by Maze wait staff, a four course meal was recommended to me and three other guests one recent holiday evening. My reciprocal advice to curious culinary Ramsay Maze diners? Be sure to visit the "dirty water dog" vendor at the end of the block before your seating to keep your hunger at bay. Otherwise, continue to kindly request that your bread stick vase be promptly refilled before your next course served. Would a mountainous heap of scallops for my second course have been the solution? Not likely. However, the 3mm by 5mm dollop of foie gras was insult to injury. Richard Simmons could not have been happier if courting Mr. Ramsay's menu as a "deal-a-meal" reference guide for the wealthy but hungry. Case and point? Mr. Ramsay, gastronomic kudos and a handshake for awaking my palate from it's NYC culinary slumber that evening, but myself and 3 guests departed a tad bit hungrier and certainly no wealthier when it came to time for coat check. Perhaps a refresher to "family style dining" via your "Kitchen Nightmares" television show might yield future stronger portion delivery from yourself and better reviews from this "once only" patron of Ramsay's Maze at The London, NYC.
